What is solar hot water?

Thermal systems use the heat from the sun to warm water within solar panels which is then transferred to a hot water cylinder.

In the UK there is generally enough sunlight to provide hot water in the summer and to warm water in the winter, where a boiler or immersion heater can be used to further heat the water to an optimum temperature.
